Brand new Ghia arrives - No rear tonneau. Reported as Factory Option.

Anybody know of After Market fitting - Dealer not willing and reports parts alone at

Tonneau is clearly indicated as an option in the brochure. Fitting after buying the car is not cheap and not that simple; both rear side trim panels have to be removed. Also try doing a search for my home-made version (use a rug that matches your interior trim, some lengths of wood and some nuts/bolts/washers; under

Are Ford having a laugh - factory fitted option on a top of the range car ????

Surprisingly they do often appear on eBay - people forget to put them back in when they sell the car - or companydrivers who forget when they return the car - they even forget to return the seats!

You'd still have to get the fittings from Fraud though!

Ask yourself if you need it - Mine has sat indoors since I've had it - the problem is it doesnt fit behind the rear most seats, therefore theres nowhere to store it when you've got 3 rows of seats - hence why they're always left indoors.

I manage to get mine to fit with the rear seats folded forward... it is very tight and a little strained but it works . I normally fit it at the weekend when the extra seats are not required.

The frame for mine is strong enough that it can act as a shelf

...and it stows away under the seats when I don't need it

I fitted a tonneau, about a month after I bought my Galaxy Ghia. Lots of work involved. Cost over

When I bought my Alhambra 2nd hand I saw the mountings for it and insisted the seller put it back or the deal was off!

It has been fitted about 95% of the time we have had the car.

Many years ago i had exactly the same with the Sharan i had when it was delivered without the tonneau cover. Haggled with VW and got 1 for the same price as the factory option. However, had to do the fitting myself which turned out to be a lot of work. It involved taking off the side interior covers on either side, drill holes and use a fret-saw to make a hole for the tonneau holders etc. etc. Turned out to be an afternoon's work. Good luck & let me know in case you would like a more detailed description.

I've got 2

I may be persuaded to part with one.

Please could you send me a message if you are interested in 'off-loading' one and how much you would want?

No problem. I picked up all the parts from Quick Co in Manchester who supply all the main dealerships. Flash the cash and they will sell you anything You can buy a cover on e bay but the brackets will have to be from Quick Co. If you know anyone with a cover fitted get them to park near your Bus so you can locate the possition of the retaining bracket. Now the brave bit !!! Get a stanly knife and cut a hole about 1 1/2 inch in diam. to reveal a bracket which the retaining bracket has to be attached to you might have to cut a little more away as to allow you to fit it but everything required was in the bag from Quick Co. Easy....and no removal of the panels etc as Quoted by Ford :) Good luck....Luke

I've managed to get a load cover off Ebay, can anyone please post the details (tel num, website) of Quick Co in Mancunia, or anywhere else that will do the brackets for the cover.

Many thanks

On the subject of the rear cover, my (old) gal was a Zetec and didn't have one, at first I really missed it as the prev car ({icasso - spit, spit) had it and I never thought twice about leaving stuff in the "boot" Guess I must have just become acustomed to not having one on the Gal... My new ML has one, and I'd forgotten what a godsend they are when there is no alternative but to leave stuff in the car.. Having a lockable safe under the drivers' seat is also a nice point (comes as part of the 7 seater "family pack")

You may also need the inner mounting backets? to fit thes the panels will have to come off! then it will be easy to cut the mounting holes as they are pre marked on the inside of the panels, have fun it's not as hard as it sounds to remove the rear quarter panels <_<

Thanks, do you know if it shows how to remove the panels in the Haynes manual for the galaxy/sharan? I'd prefer to remove them without breaking lots of clips <_< If it shows how I'll order a copy.

Also, without having to remove the door cards to check, does anyone know what size speakers go in rear doors? or they 4" 5" or 6". I have a dead speaker I need to replace.

TIA
